Need a Win? Follow these 10 Rules
What is winning, and how do I get it? The most appreciated parts of winning tend to be the beginning inspiration and the prize at the end, but what do you call all the stuff that make up the middle? In the end it tends to be all those middle parts which define winning more than the prize. Here is some great advice from Aaron Tindall on how to navigate your road to winning.
1. Value Yourself
Value who you are as a person over who you are as a musician.
2. Community
Value the idea that you can contribute to others.
3. Set Goals
Set realistic expectations on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
4. Don't Just Dream
Don’t just dream of success, wake up early, set a daily game plan, and be willing to do what it takes to achieve your goals.
5. Be Responsible
Take responsibility for your choices. Realize that you control what you can get done in a set period of time.
6. Learn from Your Mistakes
Set aside perfection and instead learn from your accomplishments and mistakes.
7. Stop Comparing
Stop comparing yourself to others. We are all on a different path and have different trajectories.
8. Critique or Criticism?
Try to distinguish the difference between critique and criticism. A critique is a detailed evaluation of something, while a criticism tends to be a negative reaction to something that was done.
9. Self-Identity
Don’t lose your self-identity. Hold onto your roots and the good things about where you came from, and build on those.
10. Have Some Humility
Stay humble as you succeed. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but rather thinking of yourself less often.
